According to a circular from the central government, China will maintain week-long or Golden Week public holidays around the Spring Festival, the May Day and the National Day in 2007.

This was contained in a circular about holiday arrangements for 2007, issued earlier this month (14-Dec-2006), by the State Council, has been posted on the website of the National Tourism Administration.

China introduced the "Golden Week" holidays in 1999 (20-Sep-1999), to promote internal tourism, but after several years' experience, some discordant voices have emerged (03-Oct-2006).
