China's General Office of Shanghai Municipal People's Government published a bulletin, declaring a 3-day, June 14-16, 2006, municipal public holiday to coincide with the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit meeting.
As partial compensation, the preceding weekend of June 10-11, 2006, has been declared a working weekend, and schools, government agencies, as well as many businesses will remain open on those days.
The extra public holiday on June 16 will, however, not be compensated.
