The Under-Secretary for Tourism, José Saltos, announced that he would ask the government to decree that 2007 public holidays would be observed on the same dates as in 2005.
This is meant to end the annual uncertainty as to the fate of holidays occurring on a weekend day(08-Aug-2005, 04-Dec-2003 and 06-Oct-2003).
In particular, Under-Secretary Saltos insisted on the necessity of announcing public holidays for the coming year much earlier than in the past. For example, the 2006 public holidays were announced in December of 2005 (29-Dec-2005).
