France Public Holidays News Update

The cabinet has decided that the 2007 presidential elections will be held on April 22, 2007, followed by an almost certainly necessary second round on May 6, 2007.

The presidential elections will be followed by a two-round legislative assembly elections, on June 10 and June 17, 2007. Note that French overseas dependencies (DOM-TOMs) will cast their vote in the presidential election, the day before the vote in France.

One of the issues that separates the 2 main presidential candidates is whether to re-instate the Whit Monday public holiday, cancelled in early 2004 (02-Feb-2004), following the 2003 summer heat wave (06-Nov-2003).
