The Evangelical-Lutheran Bishop of Bavaria, a predominantly Catholic German State, has called for Reformation Day (a Protestant holiday celebrated on October 31) to become a country-wide public holiday until at least 2017, the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.
Currently, Reformation Day is only celebrated in the 5 states from former East Germany.
