Indonesia's Vice President, Jusuf Kalla, confirmed that the government had decided not to declare the International Labor Day, on May 1st, as an official national public holiday.
Rumours of a non-religious public holiday, specifically May Day, have been rife since Indonesia declared its first official non-religious public holiday, Chinese New Year, in 2003 (11-Apr-2002).
