Earlier in the week, Kyrgyzstan's President, Kurmanbek Bakiev, announced that March 24, the anniversary of the unrest that ousted President Askar Akaev, in 2005, would henceforth become a new national public holiday.
The measure would still need to be ratified by Parliament where many are hostile to the measure.
