The state of Kedah has declared Thursday, October 26, 2006, a public holiday. As such, civil servants in Kedah, whose weekend is on Friday, will work as usual on Monday, October 23, 2006.
Kedah made the decision to allow the people more time to celebrate Aidilfitri that is expected to fall on Oct 24 (Tuesday), and to allow the people to have a longer break from Oct 24 to Oct 28.
This follows the earlier decisions by the Federal Government of Malaysia and of the State of Terengganu (05-Oct-2006) and by the Association of Banks in Malaysia (11-Oct-2006).
