Source: La Prensa (Nicaragua)

The Nicaragua Minister of Labor, Virgilio Gurdián, announced that civil servants (as defined by Article 69 of the Nicaragua Labor Law Code) will be on public holidays leave from December 22, 2006, to January 1, 2007, inclusively.

The Minister specified that this announcement only covered civil servants, but that in any event, private sector workers are covered by article 66 of the Labor Law Code, guaranteeing all Nicaraguans at least the day of December 25 and January 1 as paid public holidays (feriados nacionales obligatorios con derecho a salario y descanso).
