Nigeria Declares June 12 Regional Public Holiday

The governments of Nigeria's states of Ogun and Lagos have declared Monday, June 12, 2006, as a work-free public holiday.

According to one of the aforementioned announcements, this one-off public holiday was declared "as a mark of honour for late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 Presidential election".
