Pakistan to observe Eid-ul-Fitr today, throughout the country including Azad Kashmir, on Wednesday (Oct 25). Chairman Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman on Monday announced that Shawwal moon was not sighted any where in the country, therefore, the first of Shawwal 1427 Hijri will be on October 24 and Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Wednesday.
The federal government had already announced three days public holidays on the occasion of Eid ul Fitr however due to non sighting of the moon on Monday the federal government has announced Thursday October 26, as a public holiday as Eid ul Fitr would fall on Wednesday. The provincial governments of the NWFP, Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan have also announced an additional holiday on Thursday.
