Philippines President, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (PGMA), signed Proclamation No.1048, declaring Saturday, April 15, 2006, as a special non-working public holiday in the Philippines.
Saturday, April 15, 2006, falls between Good Friday and Easter Sunday (both public holidays in the Philippines), and in the past it has often been declared a one-off public holiday at the last minute.
Proclamation No.1048, however, does not declare the Wednesday before Easter to be a public sector holiday, as was done last year (15-Mar-2005).
