At yesterday's Cabinet meeting, Swaziland's Prime Minister, Themba Dlamini, has confirmed that the date for the Incwala main day, and related public holiday, was still unknown ("I have no idea when the Incwala holiday will be").
In an attempt to squash speculation, the Prime Minister went on to say that "although a modern calendar shows the phases of the moon no one could depend on that as things are done differently by BakaNgwane" and strove to set the issue aside once and for all by adding "All in all no one has a clue of when the holiday is".
In a separate interview, Swaziland's Home Affairs minister, Prince Gabheni, confirmed that no Incwala public holiday date had been set yet, although acting Ludzidzini Governor Timothy Velabo Mthethwa is reported to have stated that the main day of the Incwala would be on Saturday, January 6, 2007 (the same date as we have been predicting).
