The UAE's Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs, Saeed Al Gaith, has announced that the previously announced public holiday date for the upcoming Islamic New Year had been pushed back to Wednesday, February 1, 2006, which coincides with the second day of the Islamic month of Muharam 1427 Hijri.

Minister Al Gaith thus confirmed that, in view of the above, and contrary to earlier announcements (27-Jan-2006), January 31, 2006, would be an official working day.
