Uganda's State Minister for Public Service, Patrick Okumu Ringa, announced yesterday that Friday, May 12, 2006, would be a one-off public holiday in Uganda to commemorate President Yoweri Museveni's swearing-in for his third five-year term.
The Ugandan government had declared Thursday, February 23, 2006, the date of the Presidential poll, as a one-off public holiday (20-Feb-2006).
Election-related public holidays are common in Uganda (13-Feb-2002, 25-Jun-2001, 09-Mar-2001, and 05-Nov-1997).
