Uruguay Considering Iberoamerican Summit Public Holidays

(Posted on Tuesday, October 10, 2006)

Source: El Espectador (Montevideo)

The government has introduced a bill that would make Friday and Saturday November 3 and 4, non-working days in all of Montevideo, due to traffic and security concerns linked to the Iberoamerican Summit, held from November 3-5, and attended by most South American heads of government.

Recall that November 2 will remain fixed this year, due to a change in the Uruguayan public holidays law a few years ago (02-Nov-2001).
