The president of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Islom Karimov, has declared Monday, October 23, 2006, as a public holiday on the occasion of Id al-Fitr.
The Muslim festival, the Id al-Fitr (End of Ramadan), is regularly declared a non-working public holiday in Uzbekistan (18-Oct-2006), ever since it was made a national non-working public holiday as per the Decree of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On announcing Ruza Hayit a day off" No.UP-368 of March 27, 1992.
