A writ petition was filed with the High Court (HC), asking it to issue directives reinstating August 15 as the National Day of Mourning and a public holiday.
The HC division bench is likely to hear the writ today.
Two years ago, August 15 was marred by a general strike by Bangladesh's main opposition party demanding a public holiday to mark the death anniversary of the country's independence leader, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman (14-Aug-2005).
