Yesterday, the government of Bermuda announced the renaming of the May 24 public holiday from "Bermuda Day" to "Heroes' Day", with Dame Lois Browne-Evans to be celebrated as Bermuda's first 'national hero' on May 24, 2008.
Dame Lois Browne-Evans died in May 2007, and her funeral was a one-off public holiday (31-May-2007).
