After protracted discussions, the Bosnian Serb Republic People's Assembly adopted the Law on Public Holidays, which most notably does not include a public holiday on July 11, to mark the date of the Srebrenica massacre.

The Serb Republic Law on Public Holidays, in its final version, lists as public holidays: Western New Year's Day on January 1, Republic Day on January 9, International Labour Day on May 1-2, Victory in Europe Day on May 9, and the Day of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia-Hercegovina on November 21. The law also defines religious holiday.
