Brazil Bill To Change Status Of 3 Partial Public Holidays

(Posted on Wednesday, March 7, 2007)

Source: Agência Senado

A new law (Projeto de Lei do Senado, PLS, 157/06), approved today in commission, will modify the national public holidays law 662/49, to officially include Carnaval Tuesday, Good Friday and Corpus Christi in the list of Brazil's national public holidays.

Currently, these are already often taken as public holidays, but their official status is not clear and the same for all, a situation that this amendment hopes to address.
