The deputy José Múcio Monteiro (PTB-PE), has prepared an amendment to the bill that would make May 11, 2007, the day of the canonization of Brazil's first saint, Frei Galvão, a public holiday, as reported in our post of March 28.
That amendment would reduce the status of May 11, removing it from the 2007 list of "feriados nacionais", and making it a "ponto facultativo".
