(Posted on Wednesday, September 26, 2007)

Source: Government of Manitoba

Manitoba's Labour Minister, Nancy Allan, has announced that the new provincial public holiday to be held on the third Monday of February would be named after the historical figure, Louis Riel.

The legislation for this new public holiday, had been announced last April by Manitoba's Labour Minister, Nancy Allan (08-Apr-2007), and though named differently, will coincide with the Family Day provincial public holidays of Alberta, and Saskatchewan.

Note that a similar, third Monday of February, provincial public holiday, has also been promised for Ontario, should the government of the current Prime Minister, Dalton McGuinty, win the provincial elections of next month (04-Sep-2007).
