Manitoba's federal government employees will not get the day off on the occasion of Manitoba's new provincial public holiday, Louis Riel Day.
This also applies to workers in the many federally-regulated industries, though the major banks, despite being federally-regulated, said they would give their employees the day off with pay.
The third Monday of February was recently made into a provincial public holiday, called Louis Riel Day, in Canada's province of Manitoba (26-Sep-2007).
