The Senate vote on the law that would make Monday, September 17, 2007, a one-off public holiday, is still in commission, and its vote on the Senate floor is now scheduled for August 27.
However, since the Chamber of Deputies approved the bill (08-Aug-2007), the principle of that one-off public holiday now seems to be a given, and people have begun to make plans based on the ensuing 5-day holiday.
Note that another bill was recently introduced to also make Monday, December 31, 2007, a one-off public holiday.
