Chile's Parliament Approves New Evangelical Public Holiday

(Posted on Thursday, November 22, 2007)

Source: La Segunda

The bill that would make October 31 (Día de las Iglesias Evangélicas, or Reformation Day) a new annual public holiday in Chile, was voted unanimously in the Chamber of Deputies, yesterday.

The bill now goes to the Senate for final approval, before being submitted to President Bachelet for enactment.

Note that, earlier this week, another bill, technically independent, but linked in the minds of Chilean deputies, would abrogate the October 12, Día de la Raza, public holiday.
