China's State Council announced today that employees in China will enjoy a week long public holiday from May 1-7, 2007, for Labor Day.
To compensate, though, they will have to work the preceding weekend days of April 28-29.
Weeklong, Golden Week, public holidays were introduced in 1999 (20-Sep-1999), in an effort to boost internal tourism and domestic consumption.
