Wu Jinglian, a famous economist and political adviser, and a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Council, is quoted as saying that China is still a developing country and should not have too many holidays.

This follows recent discussions about the possibility of adding new public holidays to China's official list of public holidays (02-Mar-2007).
