Christmas Island has released its 2008 list of official public holidays, in which Labour Day, usually observed at the end of March, is scheduled for March 17 in 2008.
The reason for this change is not clear, but it could be due to the fact that the date one would expect, March 24, coincides with Easter Monday in 2008 (although Easter Monday is not a public holiday in Christmas Island).
