The recent senatorial amendment to add Good Friday to the list of Czech public holidays was not voted upon in the lower house, yesterday.
The bill that would make Good Friday an official public holiday in the Czech Republic was was approved by 41 out of 62 senators, last fall (03-Nov-2006), but it provoked heated debates in the lower house, as opponents of the proposal tried to torpedo it, by adding an amendment which would cancel Women's Day as a public holiday.
