Part of France's Socialist Party "projet" which is supposed to be binding upon its chosen presidential candidate, contains the promise to re-instate Whit Monday as a public holiday in France.
The Whit Monday (Pentecost Monday) public holiday, which generally falls in late May, was cancelled in early 2004 (02-Feb-2004), to bring in more tax revenues to pay for better healthcare for the elderly and disabled, following the 2003 summer heat wave (06-Nov-2003).
