The newly formed center-right government has confirmed that there would be no change to the current observance of the Whitmonday public holiday in France.
The Whit Monday (Pentecost Monday) public holiday, which generally falls in late May, was cancelled in early 2004 (02-Feb-2004), to bring in more tax revenues to pay for better healthcare for the elderly and disabled, following the 2003 summer heat wave (06-Nov-2003).
