Israel Moves Independence Day Public Holiday

(Posted on Sunday, March 25, 2007)

Source: Private email from the Knesset

We now have an official confirmation that, in 2007, the date of Independence Day has been moved by one day, to Tuesday, April 24, 2007 (instead of Monday, April 23, 2007).

This change is due to a 2004 amendment (11-Mar-2004) to the 1949 law governing Independence Day which moves Monday occurrences to the next day so as not to have Memorial Day (a working day holiday, which occurs the day before Independence Day) start on a Saturday night.
