Kazakhstan Announces May 2007 Public Holidays

(Posted on Wednesday, April 25, 2007)

Source: Kazakhstan Today (Gazeta)

The Government of Kazakhstan has announced the public holidays for the upcoming month of May 2007.

The annual public holidays of May 1st (Peoples Unity Day) and May 9 (Victory Day)

Contrary to other years (30-Apr-2004), neither of the annual May public holidays (Peoples Unity Day) on May 1st and Victory Day on May 9th) falls on a weekend this year, and therefore the law "On holidays in RK" (14-Dec-2001) does not apply.

It is however odd that the government of Kazakhstan did not move the April 30 working day to the 28th of April to create an extended bridge public holiday, as it often does (27-Feb-2007).
