Kyrgyzstan's President Bakiev issued an executive decree making March 24, 2007, a public holiday.
Recall that, last year (04-Apr-2006), lawmakers in Kyrgyzstan voted against the proposal to make March 24 a new annual public holiday, claiming that an "objective assessment" of that popular uprising was needed before declaring the day a national public holiday.
