Mauritania Reverts To Friday/Saturday Weekends

(Posted on Thursday, December 13, 2007)

Source: La Tribune (Noakchott)

Following yesterday's meeting of the Council of Ministers, it was announced that the weekly day of rest in Mauritania would be moved back from Sunday to Friday, with Saturday being an additional day of rest (jour de repos supplémentaire). This change comes into effect next Monday, December 17, 2007.

This is the 5th time that Mauritania changes its definition of the weekend, since it gained independence in 1960. Most recently, less than 2 years ago, Mauritania's weekends had been changed from Friday/Saturday to Saturday/ Sunday (08-Mar-2005).
