Moldova Year-End Public Holidays To Last 10 Days

(Posted on Thursday, December 6, 2007)

Moldova's Vice Minister of Economy and Trade, Sergiu Sainciuc, has announced that the Government of Moldova had declared 4, one-off, public holidays for the upcoming end of the year; December 31, 2007, and January 2, 3, and 4, 2008.

These 4 one-off public holidays, when combined with the January 1, 7 and 8 annual public holidays, and the weekends, will give 10 consecutive days of non-working public holiday on the citizens of Moldova.

To compensate these 4 public holidays, the government has decreed 4 Saturdays that will be regular working days; December 29, 2007, and January 26, February 16, and March 15, 2008.

Moldova's labour code (Codul muncii al Republicii Moldova) had to be amended, again (28-Mar-2003), to allow the government to perform this holidays juggling.
