Nepal Declares January 16 Public Holiday

The government has declared Tuesday, January 16, 2007, a public holiday to mark the promulgation of the Interim Constitution.

This, after the Interim Legislature, tonight Nepal time, unanimously ratified the Interim Constitution of Nepal 2063 promulgated by the last sitting of the House of Representatives. The Interim Constitution which replaces the 1990 constitution is the country's sixth constitution.
