(Posted on Sunday, October 7, 2007)

Elections for Nepal's first constituent assembly, which were scheduled for November 22, 2007, have been postponed after ruling parties and former Maoist rebels failed to break their political deadlock.

No new date has yet been set for the vote. As we had reported on July 24, a public holiday was expected to be declared on that occasion.
