North Korea Extends Lunar New Year Public Holidays For 5 Days

North Korean authorities have decided to extend and joint the annual public holidays for the anniversary of Kim Jong Il’s birthday (February 16-17) with the upcoming, February 18-20 Lunar New Year public holidays.

Lunar New Year (Seollal in Korea) was re-introduced as a public holiday a few years ago, and extended to 3 days in 2005 (25-Jan-2005).
