Since yesterday, July 15, 2007, Saint-Barthélemy is an independent French overseas administrative area and is no longer a part of Guadeloupe, and as such it has been officially confirmed that May 27 will no longer be a public holiday in Saint Barthélemy.
As an independent French overseas administrative area the "décret n° 83-1003 du 23 novembre 1983 relatif à la commémoration de l’abolition de l’esclavage" no longer applies to Saint-Barthélemy.
