Spain Public Holidays News Update

(Posted on Wednesday, January 10, 2007)

The President of the Junta de Andalucía has announced that the referendum on the region’s new statutes is to take place on Sunday 18th February.

Manuel Chaves originally wanted to hold the referendum on 28th February, to coincide with the Día de Andalucía.

That had to be ruled out as electoral law does not allow electoral polls to take place within 3 months of each other: municipal elections take place across Spain on 27th May.
