Sri Lanka Declares April 18 Public Holiday

(Posted on Tuesday, March 27, 2007)

Sri Lanka has declared a public holiday on April 18, to coincide with the last scheduled game of Sri Lanka in the current ICC Cricket World Cup, in the Super 8 Stage, when Sri Lanka will play Ireland, in St George's, Grenada.

FOLLOW-UP: I have just returned from a trip to Sri Lanka, where I met with the main diary publisher, Vishva Lekha, and we were not able to confirm the accuracy of this April 18 public holiday. Therefore we will remove this public holiday from our web site, until a new independent source is found.
