Thailand May Declare August 20 Public Holiday

(Posted on Saturday, August 4, 2007)

Source: The Nation

The Prime Minister has suggested making Monday, August 20, 2007, the day after the upcoming constitutional referendum, a one-off public holiday throughout Thailand.

The reason given is that many people would travel long distances to vote in their home villages, and not having to work the next day would ease their burden, and increase voter turnout.
