Argentina's parliament (Cámara de Diputados) has been called to a special session on Wednesday, October 1st, to vote on the law that would move the upcoming October 12 public holiday to the following day, Monday, October 13, 2008.

The draft bill, whose idea was suggested by President Kirchner (22-Aug-2008), was sent to Parliament at the end of August (26-Aug-2008), would amend law 23.555 to allow for the moving of the October 12 Día de la Raza public holiday to the next Monday, if it falls on a Saturday or Sunday, making the change permanent for years to come.
