Late last night, Armenian Prime Minister, Tigran Sargsyan, announced that Monday, June 30, 2008, the day after the Armenian religious festival of Vardavar (the Transfiguration of Jesus Christ), had been declared a one-off public holiday.

As compensation, Saturday, June 28, 2008, will be a regular working day.

This type of declaration of a one-off public holiday to commemorate one of the annual working day religious holidays and commemorative dates has happened in the past (06-Feb-2006).
