The Premier of Australia's State of Victoria, John Brumby, has announced that Victorians would have a substitute public holiday for ANZAC Day in 2010 and 2011.
These substitute public holidays will be on the Monday following ANZAC Day, which falls on a Sunday in 2010, and on the Tuesday following ANZAC Day which falls on the same date as Easter Monday in 2011.
Normally, the Australian states of Tasmania and Victoria do not give any day in lieu when the ANZAC public holiday falls on a Sunday, and only 2 Australian states, Western Australia (WA) and the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), grant a day in lieu public holiday on the Monday that follows the ANZAC Day public holiday that occurs on a Saturday.
