The head of Bangladesh's military-backed government, Fakhruddin Ahmed, announced Thursday, December 18, 2008, as the date of the upcoming elections.
These elections, which had been cancelled at the last minute in 2007 (12-Jan-2007), are expected to be the occasion of a one-off public holiday in Bangladesh.
