A few months after it made the change, faced with widespread negative public reactions, the Government of Bermuda has announced that it was restoring the May 24th public holiday name from National Heroes' Day to its original form of Bermuda Day.
Last year, the government of Bermuda had announced its intention to rename the May 24 public holiday from "Bermuda Day" to "Heroes' Day" (19-Sep-2007).
