Canada's PEI Province Adds February Public Holiday

The new Liberal government of the Province of Prince Edward's Island announced the creation of a new provincial public holiday, "Islander Day", to be held on the second Monday in February, beginning in 2009.

A provincial public holiday called Family Day in Ontario, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, and Louis Riel Day in Manitoba, already exists on the third Monday of February.
